Job summary

BARNES AEROSPACE in East Granby, CT is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop 3D models of jet engine component assemblies using NX CAD and SolidWorks. You will create operation sheets, establish tooling and process specifications, and coordinate with shop personnel to meet customer requirements.

The role requires 5+ years in aerospace or manufacturing, strong CAD skills, and the ability to read blueprints and write clear technical documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in the aerospace industry or general manufacturing.
• Proficient in NX CAD; working knowledge of SolidWorks is desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence; present to groups.
• Strong manufacturing background with multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Titanium, Stainless Steel and Inconel materials is a plus.
• Familiarity with inspection methods such as FPI, MPI, and X-ray.
• Welding knowledge is desirable.
• Machinist experience is a plus; comfortable on the shop floor.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Barnes Aerospace, East Granby OEM has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer, who will be responsible for processing and creating 3D models of component assemblies used in jet engine parts. The Manufacturing Engineer will use NX CAD and SolidWorks software to create 3D solid models and associated operation sheets. The Engineer will determine the tools and specifications needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to customer requirements. The Engineer must be comfortable in a manufacturing setting and interacting with shop personnel when developing processes.

Core Responsibilities:

• Create 3D models of the assembly and all components in NX and or SolidWorks.
• Create operation sheets / work instructions from 3D model in NX and or SolidWorks.
• Oversee NX standards and configuration.
• Create routing / BOM / item cards in ERP system.
• Create milestones / project plans and make sure engineering tasks stay on track.
• Follow parts through shop to make sure there are no issues.
• Interact with shop personnel when developing processes.
• Support tool design as needed.
• Provide support to customers / vendors on any engineering related items.
• Participate in root cause analysis and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in the aerospace industry or general manufacturing.
• Proficient in the use of NX CAD solid modeling software, working knowledge of Solidworks is desirable.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
• A strong background in manufacturing and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is required.
• Experience with Titanium, Stainless Steel and Inconel materials is a plus.
• Familiarity with industry inspection methods such as FPI, MPI, and X-ray.
• General knowledge of welding methods is desirable.
• Prior experience as a machinist is a plus.Comfortable with a manufacturing environment interacting with machinist on the shop floor.
• Excellent communication skills are needed; both verbal and written.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline required.
