In this position...

You will deliver high-volume stator manufacturing systems for Powertrain eMotors on time and at budget by leading the specification, procurement, design, build, runoff, install, and launch of equipment.

What you'll do...
  • Collaborate with Product Development to ensure stators are "designed for manufacturing" to improve quality, reduce scrap, reduce labor, increase automation, and implement other strategic priorities.
  • Evaluate manufacturing feasibility of stator designs using virtual tools amongst others.
  • Predict facility & tooling cost and labor budgets.
  • Create and maintain stator process matrix, process illustrations, PFMEAs, dynamic control plans (DCPs), equipment verification plans (EVPs), and other documentation.
  • Line-up equipment suppliers and collaborate with purchasing to place purchase orders.
  • Approve equipment supplier designs incorporating "fresh eyes" and Ford best practices.
  • Lead runoff activities at equipment supplier sites.
  • Lead installation, commissioning, start-up, and launch at Ford manufacturing plant.
  • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of all feasibility, quality, packaging, tooling, safety, ergonomics, controls, purchasing, cost, and other issues throughout life of program.
  • Document 'Lessons Learned' and implement continuous improvement actions on future programs.
  • Support Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering department strategic action plans.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams (Strategy, Delivery, Product Development, Purchasing, Facilities, Material Handling, New Model Programs, Supplier Technical Assistance, Operations, etc...)
You'll have...
  • Bachelors degree of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial preferred).
  • 5+ years' experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment, preferably with Stators.
Even better, you may have...
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Experience with Powertrain.
  • Technical acumen and experience combined with persuasion and data-driven storytelling capabilities.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable operating in stressful situations within budget and timing constraints.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong computer skills including 2D / 3D CAD (Excel, Teamcenter, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc...)
  • Understanding of failure mode avoidance and documentation (PFMEA, DCP, etc...)
  • Working knowledge of statistics (GD&T, VSA, Gauge R&R, control limits, etc...)
  • Familiarity with metal forming, welding, trickling, and/or precision manufacturing.
  • Ability to travel for runoff and launch onsite (including extended travel) at supplier facilities and Ford plants in USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Asia as required (up to 80% during peak program times, though not for extended periods).
