Job summary

Elite Recruiting Co in Dayton, Ohio seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert across aerospace, automotive, and defense programs. You will design, implement, and review manufacturing processes, driving efficiency and quality for our client base.

Responsibilities include leading DFMEA/PFMEA, driving Industry 4.0 initiatives, coordinating with suppliers, and mentoring junior engineers while meeting aggressive milestones with client teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experienced in designing and reviewing manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Ability to lead DFMEA/PFMEA analyses and APQP activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and innovation of branded solutions for DoD and commercial sectors.
  • Drive automation techniques and testing to optimize production capabilities.
  • Perform and review DFMEA and PFMEA to identify design/manufacturing risks.
  • Analyze part production processes, schedules, and methods to forecast future requirements.
  • Interface with manufacturing suppliers to lead APQP activities.
  • Advance Industry 4.0 / Digital Factory / Model-Based Enterprise initiatives.
  • Document and present technical data, analyses, and reports.
  • Review manufacturing instructions to improve customer efficiency.
  • Develop process strategy documentation and changes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate team work.
  • Oversee project progress against planned schedules.
  • Collaborate with project management, technical teams, and customers to meet plans.

Position Summary:

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will serve as an engineering & manufacturing subject matter expert for our client across various programs requiring product design and development knowledge. Your knowledge and expertise will be widely applied across our client’s broad client base from various industry domains such as aerospace, automotive, other defense sectors. You will provide thought leadership around new technologies and methodologies while working with their clients in defining future state for their engineering and manufacturing strategies. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures and processes involved in manufacturing. As a key member of the Customer Engagement Team, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for executing against key milestones and deliverable timelines. This role requires client- facing interaction with project teams in meeting aggressive timelines and delivering effective client solutions.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the development and innovation of our client’s branded solutions and offerings to be used across DoD and commercial industry sectors.

  • Drive automation techniques and testing of new systems to optimize clients’ production capabilities.

  • Perform and review design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) and process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA) to identify and assess design and manufacturing risks.

  • Conduct and review analyses of part production processes, schedules, methods, and other data to better understand future requirements needed for customers’ manufacturing processes.

  • Interface with manufacturing suppliers to lead APQP activities (PFMEA, Control plans, PPAP).

  • Drive technical execution of projects around focus areas of Industry 4.0 / Digital Factory / Model Based Enterprise / Advanced Manufacturing / Additive Manufacturing.

  • Perform accurate / professional documentation and presentation of technical data, analyses, and reports.

  • Review manufacturing instructions, methods, and processes to identify and improve customer efficiency.

  • Develop process strategy documentation outlining the technical and process changes and analyses.

  • Support active feedback between customers and the team to drive improvements.

  • Plan and coordinate work of junior engineering staff in coordination with the Leadership team, including providing training / mentoring to junior engineering staff as needed.

  • Oversee project progress against planned schedules.

  • Partner effectively with the project/ program management, technical team, and customer to deliver according to agreed plans and schedules.

  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of issues as they arise and initiate corrective actions.

  • Ability to manage deliverables, lead small teams of engineers, and execute tasks with minimal oversight.


Requirements


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering

  • 4+ years related engineering experience

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines concurrently

  • Expertise in GD&T

  • Understanding of PPAP through PPAP Level 5

  • Experience with assembly and testing of machined, forged/cast, or fabricated aerospace parts

  • Experience with design for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, and cost

  • Demonstrated time management and project management skills

  • Expertise in editing, controlling, and reviewing PFMEAs and Control Plans

  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively and work with business and technical stakeholders

  • Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and influential skills

  • Availability for travel to customer locations as required; estimated at up to 30% – client dependent


Desired Qualifications


  • 2+ years team lead / engineering project manager experience

  • Experience with additive and electronics manufacturing processes

  • LEAN, Six Sigma, or other process certifications

  • Experience with Project Planning tools, such as MS Project
