Job description

Purpose

The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates the development and refinement of manufacturing processes. They develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of materials, parts, tooling, and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, engineering principles, and quality control standards. This role is responsible for all value-added processes related to the milling, turning, fixturing, tooling, programming, and processing of complex machined parts.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead Manufacturing Process Development: Own and optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring innovation and efficiency. Act as the primary contact for manufacturing processes, collaborating closely with product engineering and program managers from design through to production launch.
  • Design and Optimization: Design workflows and production cells to maximize quality and resource efficiency. Develop, construct, and validate tooling, fixturing, gaging, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with industry standards such as AS9100.
  • Enhance Production Performance: Implement data-driven processes and equipment upgrades to improve production control, safety, and quality metrics.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Utilize six sigma techniques to continuously improve capabilities, throughput, and product quality. Contribute to the development and execution of long-term technical strategic roadmaps.
  • Build Reputation: Uphold integrity in all work, deliver on commitments, and follow company policies. Collaborate effectively with customers and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Previous experience with CAM software, preferably Mastercam.
  • Background in machining operations including lathes, mills, EDM, and inspection equipment.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and standards.
  • Background in painting, coating, welding, assembly, and automation is a plus
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of manufacturing-related experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and project management skills.Effective time management skills to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment

This position also has a role in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud when on the shop floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. When in the office environment the employee is in a sedentary role, however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
