Job summary

Alamance Foods Inc. in Burlington, NC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer focused on continuous improvement and process optimization within high-volume production lines.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams to streamline processes, boost efficiency, and ensure reliable equipment performance. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Previous co-op/internship or full-time experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong background in continuous improvement or lean manufacturing is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes (Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis).
  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize line performance, reduce downtime, and improve throughput.
  • Design, develop, and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues with Maintenance and Production teams.
  • Monitor KPIs and drive improvements through data analysis.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and facility expansions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Document engineering processes and maintain technical records.
  • Support new product and process trials from concept to production scale-up.

Position Opportunity

Alamance Foods is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a strong passion for continuous improvement and process optimization. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced manufacturing environments and enjoy identifying, leading, and implementing change.

You’ll work cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and ensure the reliability of our high-volume production lines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes (Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, etc.)

Qualifications
Education/Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or similar Engineering degree required
Experience
  • Previous co-op/internship or full-time experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred
  • Strong preference for candidates with demonstrated experience in continuous improvement or lean manufacturing
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with lean tools (5S, value stream mapping, kaizen, etc.) and root cause methodologies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus
  • Familiarity with PLCs, automation systems, or industrial processes is a plus
