Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and production methods used in the manufacture of Federal Pacific products. This role works closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations to improve safety, quality, productivity, cost, and overall manufacturing efficiency.

The Manufacturing Engineer will evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, develop and implement manufacturing solutions, and provide hands-on technical support to the production floor. This position will play an important role in supporting the manufacture of low, medium, and high voltage electrical power distribution equipment, including switchgear, substations, power centers, starters, and other custom-engineered products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes, methods, equipment, tooling, and workflows to increase safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to manufacturing teams to troubleshoot production, equipment, tooling, and process-related issues.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, quality concerns, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Develop and implement process improvements designed to reduce cycle time, scrap, rework, and overall manufacturing costs.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering to ensure products are designed for manufacturability, assembly, and efficient production.
  • Review engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), specifications, and work instructions to identify and resolve manufacturing concerns prior to and during production.
  • Design, specify, and implement manufacturing fixtures, tooling, workstations, and equipment as needed.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating practices.
  • Support the introduction of new products and designs into manufacturing, including process development, tooling requirements, production readiness, and shop-floor implementation.
  • Partner with Quality to investigate manufacturing defects, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Operations on equipment reliability, upgrades, modifications, and capital improvement projects.
  • Evaluate manufacturing equipment and technology and assist with the justification, selection, procurement, installation, and implementation of new equipment.
  • Utilize manufacturing data and performance metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support Lean manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, standard work, and other continuous improvement activities throughout the facility.
  • Provide technical training and support to production employees regarding new processes, equipment, tooling, and work methods.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and help identify engineering solutions that reduce ergonomic and workplace safety risks.

  • Maintain a safe working environment by complying with federal regulations and company safety requirements.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guiding principles.
  • Adjust work hours as needed to support business objectives and production requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
