Actalent in Avon Lake, OH seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead and provide engineering expertise across new model development programs, implementing tooling and facilities changes, and leading assembly builds at US plants.

The role interfaces with cross-functional teams, drives quality, cost, and labor improvements, and requires CAD experience, PFMEA understanding, and teamwork across product development and operations. This is a on-site position with occasional travel.

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to lead and provide engineering expertise throughout new model development programs. This role involves implementing new or modified tooling and facilities, interfacing with cross-functional teams, and leading assembly builds at US assembly plants.

Responsibilities

• Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program.
• Implement new or modified tooling and facilities based on product and process changes.
• Lead manufacturing assembly builds at US assembly plants.
• Identify, resolve, and close all launch, product, and tooling-related issues.
• Interface with cross-functional activities, including product development, quality, and MP&L.
• Write scope of work documents for tooling and facility changes as required.
• Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site.
• Prepare and lead management presentations as required.
• Resolve and report issues for mechanical and electrical systems.
• Drive quality, cost, and labor improvements.

Essential Skills

• Experience in manufacturing engineering, tooling, and assembly.
• Experience in root cause failure analysis and CAPA.
• 2+ years of experience in an assembly plant or the automotive industry.
• 2+ years experience with tooling, processes, and facilities.
• 2+ years of CAD experience, mainly in design reviews.
• Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
• Statistical knowledge (control charts, data collecting, etc.).
• Error proofing.
• Product launch and issue resolution capability.
• Previous project management experience.
• Experience working with Tier 1 OEM suppliers and partners.

Work Environment

This position is 100% on-site at OHAP to provide support during build events. There may be occasional, though infrequent, travel to sister plants in Kentucky and Michigan as needed for shadowing other build events and buyoffs activity. This role offers a long-term indefinite consulting opportunity with exposure to various opportunities within the organization. The plant is growing, with new programs expected in the coming years.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Avon Lake, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
