Job description

  • Early-Stage Prototype Collaboration & Assembly: Partner closely with Engineering during early proof of concept builds. Ensuring initial engineering designs translate into repeatable, scalable assembly steps, as well as providing hands on build & FA support
  • Process Flow & WI Translation: Convert preliminary prototype build steps, engineering notes, and trial feedback into structured Process Flows and step-by-step Work Instructions
  • Tooling, Jigs & Fixture Engineering: Design, procure, and validate custom assembly fixtures, alignment jigs, and specialized production tooling. Perform CAD design and rapid prototyping for fixtures to ensure tight tolerances, repeatable yields, and ergonomic operator safety.
  • DFM/DFA & Risk Mitigation: Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA) reviews with R&D. Utilize PFMEA to proactively identify, quantify, and mitigate technical assembly risks before high-volume manufacturing.
  • Process Development & Validation: Define, optimize, and qualify technical manufacturing processes (e.g., dispensing, thermal bonding, torque sequencing). Ensure processes consistently meet target yields, cycle times, and throughput requirements.
  • NPI Transition & CM Onboarding: Lead the "technical hand-off" to high-volume production. Drive line bring-up, troubleshoot pilot/ramp builds, resolve yield drop issues, and onboard Tier-1 Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
  • Technical Approvals & ECO Management: Serve as a primary technical reviewer in the PLM/Change Management workflow; evaluate and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs) for production readiness.
Skills & Requirements
  • Technical Design: Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks or Nx) for fixture design and assembly review.
  • Analytical Rigor: Command of SPC, DOE, and Root Cause Analysis (8D or 5-Whys).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 2+ years in process development/NPI within high-volume or complex hardware environments.
