BAE Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Anniston, Alabama facility. The role focuses on shop‑floor manufacturing support, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Providing floor support to assembly line operations, resolving issues related to production workflows, equipment, and processes, and implementing improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Providing technical assistance and guidance on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities, including diagnostic troubleshooting and repair of complex systems and equipment.
- Providing engineering support for garage and assembly processes in the manufacturing of combat products.
- Applying basic knowledge of the design of organization's products and technology to solve moderately complex and clearly defined engineering problems, selecting the best method or process from several existing alternatives.
- Analyzing and interpreting design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
- Developing concepts, design change recommendations, and rework/repair instructions.
- Supporting standard and non‑standard weld repairs as necessary.
- Recommending process changes and implementing process improvements.
- Investigating root‑cause/corrective actions for fabrication, assembly, and garage‑related issues.
- Developing and revising existing documentation, providing input for technical documentation, papers, and presentations, and may deliver technical presentations.
- Applying basic lean/six sigma principles to drive improvements to production processes.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or Technical discipline such as mechanical, electrical engineering, or engineering technology) or relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Can work independently with minimal guidance.
- Effective communication skills.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Capable of working with current computer applications, CAD programs, and model manipulation, and understanding of engineering drawings.
- Ability to solve technical problems that require a professional level of engineering knowledge and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to interface with customers (both internal and external).
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience with assembly line operations and garage maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities.
- Hands‑on floor support experience, working with shop employees.
- Experience in root cause/corrective action and preventive action.
- Knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, drawing standards, procedures, and processes.
- Basic knowledge of inspection processes.
- Practice of lean / six sigma concepts as applied to manufacturing.
- Familiarity with relevant military and commercial weld standards.
- Knowledge of drilling/machining operations.
Pay Information
Full‑time salary range: $64,935 – $110,390.
