Job summary

Quanex is seeking an Operational Decarbonization Manager to drive energy and sustainability improvements across manufacturing locations, with initial focus on energy efficiency and long-term waste and water reductions. The role involves partnering with plant leaders, applying Lean and continuous improvement methods, and traveling across North America to support 40 locations.

Location flexibility includes MN or OH with travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy or related field.
• 5+ years of professional work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Lean Six Sigma experience or DOE energy qualifications (Certified Energy Manager preferred).
• Well-developed understanding of sustainability objectives, energy conservation and waste minimization techniques.
• Experience and track record in energy savings audits/treasure hunts including compressed air, HVAC, lighting, motors and drives.
• Proven track record of problem solving, idea generation, and project management/execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead energy kaizen events to reduce energy use across manufacturing sites.
• Collaborate with plant managers and cross-functional teams to implement improvements.
• Develop and implement sustainability strategies aligned with Quanex’s goals.
• Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water conservation.
• Drive data-driven decisions with measurable results and financial impact.
• Support rollout of best practices across multiple locations in North America.
