Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Manufacturing Electrical Engineer to support manufacturing test and related processes. The role involves interpreting drawings, solving design and tolerance issues, and evaluating test equipment.

You will participate in capacity planning and cost analysis, drive defect reduction, and lead test-method development for sub-assemblies through top-level products. Onsite role with opportunities for relocation.

Qualifications

Collins Aerospace is hiring a Manufacturing Electrical Engineer at our Cedar Rapids Mission Systems manufacturing location. The position will support manufacturing test and other manufacturing aspects. You will be tasked with evaluating and solving everyday manufacturing test problems related to design, process, and supplier issues. This is an onsite role in Cedar Rapids, and may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do

• Provides technical interpretation of drawings and specifications.
• Analyze and resolve design tolerance problems.
• Provides information to evaluate, select and order capital test equipment and complete cost/payback analysis.
• Supports capacity planning and utilization analysis for accurate staffing and test equipment needs.
• Eliminate/reduce test defects and improve test yields for routine issues of various levels of scope.
• Perform root cause analysis and take corrective action to resolve test failures.
• Develop, implement and maintain test methods and processes in the manufacture and test of sub-assembly, module, and top level product for established stable product lines.
• Determines proper test flows and sequencing for the efficient flow of products through Mfg test.
• Assures that proper technical assistance and training is provided to floor test technicians.
• Maintains all test documentation in current configuration.
• Analyzes manufacturing test processes for cost reduction opportunities.
• Develops working knowledge of test systems and hardware.
• Provides technical assistance and support to sub-assembly and top-level testing.
• Understands how Engineering support costs affect Manufacturing.
• Understands how test equipment performance and reliability affects Manufacturing.
• Utilize and apply engineering and manufacturing principles and processes.
• Manage small sized projects or processes.
• Independently resolve problems that are difficult and often complex.
• Develop tactical plans to manage day-to-day challenges.
• Some travel to local Iowa regional sites.

What You Will Learn

You will learn how to be a manufacturing electrical engineer supporting various high-frequency communication radios & circuit board manufacturing processes. Engineering tools used in the build & test of radios. (SAP, Engineering drawings, change control board, Solidworks, AutoCAD, eView, PDM, etc.). You will gain experience with standard work tools and processes. They will execute CORE certification. This role offers a lot of growth within the role and development opportunities to expand your knowledge for other roles. You will gain communication and collaboration skills that are key within the role. You will also gain leadership skills. Qualifications

• You Must Have Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
• Qualifications We Prefer Degree in Electrical engineering related degree or experience supporting electronics manufacturing Basic statistics. Understands Parametric Process control and versed in implementation. Proficiency interpreting Six Sigma control methods. Problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals. Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks.

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
