Job description

Wieland is hiring a Manufacturing Cost Calculator. The Manufacturing Cost Calculator will be responsible for performing functions to determine the accurate cost of producing manufactured products, including determining proper material, outside operations, labor, and machinery to be utilized in the production process for each quoted part. The role involves working across departments to gather necessary information and analyzing vendor pricing to obtain the best costs for materials and services. This position is located in Lake Zurich, IL, and will be fully onsite.

Base Salary Range: $56,000 - $79,000

May be eligible for a variable bonus based on company performance within the fiscal year.

Responsibilities:

• Provide timely manufacturing quotes based on customer requirements.
• Develop and maintain performance metrics for the quoting team.
• Source materials and outside services from vendors.
• Conduct contract reviews to ensure accuracy before production initiation.
• Assist sales teams in servicing customers.
• Identify and evaluate alternative suppliers for quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Research new materials, suppliers, and processes to improve quality, reliability, and cost.
• Monitor material pricing trends and inform management.
• Participate in APQP meetings to ensure new product costs are within budget.
• Maintain metals pricing and stocking lists.
• Lead projects aligned with strategic goals and initiatives.
• Stay informed on processing rates and methods for accurate quoting.

Qualifications:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Advanced blueprint reading ability.
• Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, heat treating, and metals processing.
• Mechanical aptitude with CNC turning and milling experience.
• Understanding of aerospace requirements and approved sources.
• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in CNC turning and cost calculation.
• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
