Job summary

Whirlpool Corporation is offering a 12-week Manufacturing Leadership Development Program (MLDP) Controls Engineering Track internship with assignments spanning lean manufacturing, automation, quality, and process engineering. Projects may occur at Findlay, OH and Clyde, OH locations, with housing stipend as part of the program.

Eligible candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics or related fields, with a minimum GPA of 2.8 and US work

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelors degree with major in Electrical/Controls/Automation/Robotics/Mechatronics or related field.
• Plan to graduate before or by May 2029 and maintain GPA 2.8 or higher.
• Must have indefinite US work authorization. Visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation projects related to process control, quality control, safety systems and vision systems.
• Design, develop, review and coordinate test programs for components, systems or materials.
• Manage equipment/resource relocation projects.
• Lead change management with impacted team members.
• Focus on cost-savings initiatives across a plant, including standardized work audits and throughput improvements.
• Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing tools to projects.

The Internship Program - May 2027 Start Date

Our 12-week Manufacturing Leadership Development Program (MLDP) Controls Engineering Track Internship focuses on World Class Manufacturing methodology. Core experiences and projects span areas such as lean manufacturing, quality, automation, process engineering, and more.

Intern Project Assignments Could Be In Areas Such As

• Lead automation projects related to process control, quality control, safety systems and vision systems
• Design, develop, review and conduct coordination for test programs or components, small systems or processes, or materials taking into account customers, product performance, cost and quality requirements
• Manage equipment / resource relocation projects
• Lead change management with impacted team members
• Focus on cost-savings initiatives across a plant including: standardized work audits, Improving first pass yield and throughput, etc.
• Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing tools to project(s)

Upon successful completion of the summer internship program, you may be considered for employment opportunities within the Full Time Manufacturing Leadership Development Program: Controls Engineering Track post-graduation.

Program Location

This internship will take place at one of our North American plant locations in Findlay, OH and Clyde, OH.

Minimum Requirements

• Pursuing bachelors degree with major in: Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with plans to graduate before or by May 2029
• Current cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
• Must have indefinite US work authorization. Applicants who require visa sponsorship or work authorization now or in the future are not eligible for this program
