General Motors Company is seeking a Manufacturing Controls Engineer to support stamping operations, improving and sustaining automation and plant-floor control systems. The role partners with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, IT, suppliers, and central controls teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in manufacturing operations, controls engineering, or related tech.
• Hands-on PLC-based industrial automation troubleshooting in production.
• Experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and safety systems.
• Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ProfiBus or similar networks.
• Ability to diagnose complex issues and implement sustainable actions.

Responsibilities

• Provide controls ownership for stamping presses, conveyors, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and lead root-cause analyses.
• Develop, test, validate, and document PLC and HMI changes per GM standards.
• Support uptime, quality, safety, and cost objectives through improvements.
• Lead or support controls activities for launches and plant upgrades.
• Collaborate with maintenance, IT, and engineering teams on recovery plans.
