Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced manufacturing automation engineer to design, implement, and optimize production systems. You will apply IIoT, PLC programming, and robotics to improve performance, reliability, and safety on the shop floor.

Lead automation projects, collaborate with suppliers, and guide operations staff while integrating API-based controls with MES and IIoT platforms to drive cost efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of API integration.
  • Experience leading IIoT deployment initiatives.
  • Proficiency with Siemens and Allen-Bradley software.
  • Familiarity with embedded AI technologies.
  • Robotics experience with major brands (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Cloos).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to design and improve manufacturing performance across production, cost, quality, safety compliance, and environmental requirements.
  • Lead enhancements to complex equipment and processes.
  • Monitor reliability to eliminate downtime and chronic losses.
  • Coach operations technical staff and support teams to strengthen capability on the shop floor.
  • Define software and hardware requirements to control and enhance production equipment and processes in collaboration with manufacturing and quality engineering.
  • Select and lead the implementation of new control devices and sensors into IIoT platforms and manufacturing execution systems.
  • Create, troubleshoot, and modify PLC programming and ladder logic of production equipment to optimize manufacturing performance.
  • Lead and support automation projects with complex systems designs and integrated controls software.
  • Monitor advanced equipment performance and process reliability; apply mature problem-solving skills to improve consistency and repeatability.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in major manufacturing projects, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.
