Job summary

Blue Bird Corporation is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician – CAD to support manufacturing by maintaining facility and tooling drawings, developing CNC programs for the plywood router, and keeping engineering documentation up to date. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, you will work with minimal supervision to verify floor dimensions and assist with purchasing needs.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in technical drafting using CATIA and DraftSight.
• Knowledge of bus body and chassis construction and related tooling.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, rough sketches, and marked prints.
• Ability to take accurate measurements and translate production floor information into clear drawings.
• Working knowledge of CNC programming for plywood routing applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with PLM, LN, BBOND, and BOSS.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organized engineering records.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage several assignments.
• Effective written and verbal communication across departments.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain CAD drawings and databases for facility layouts, jigs, and equipment.
• Take measurements on the production floor to verify facility dimensions.
• Interpret rough sketches and engineering information to revise drawings.
• Create and maintain CNC programs for plywood routing.
• Support purchasing activities for departmental materials and tools.
• Maintain engineering documents like JES, work instructions, PFMEAs.
• Coordinate with departments to obtain information and meet requirements.
• Manage multiple assignments with priorities and timelines.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
