Job description

The Manufacturing Business Consultant has responsibility for between 20 and 30 highly complex Central Manufacturing Locations (CMLs). These CMLs are responsible for supplying donuts to Dunkin’ restaurants within their region. The role is to uphold the standards and reputation of the brand while enhancing operational excellence and franchisee profitability. The incumbent will provide leadership through effective business planning, continual evaluation, coaching, and building effective relationships based on mutual trust and respect. They will lead all operational aspects of the new CML opening process, from project kickoff through post-opening assessments. Using operational assessment tools, they will evaluate and assist franchisees in maintaining Dunkin' standards to improve food safety, product quality, and profitability. This individual acts as a coach and manufacturing leader across their portfolio of CMLs.

Manufacturing Business Consultants are responsible for an assigned portfolio of franchisee or third-party owned CMLs. They collaborate with CML franchisees and/or ownership to set and achieve operational goals. They focus on coaching and influencing franchise and ownership organizations to deliver a consistent and safe brand experience.

An ideal candidate would live in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Rhode Island or be willing to relocate to one of these states.

Day-to-Day Accountabilities:

  • Driven by a passion for quality donuts and bakery products.
  • Act as key liaison with field team members, fostering a positive environment for feedback regarding quality, availability, creativity, processes, and franchisee relationships through active connections with local field operations.
  • Advise CML owners on implementing and executing Dunkin' tools, processes, and systems.
  • Ensure operating systems and training disciplines are in place within each facility.
  • Conduct operational and food safety audits, coaching towards improvements.
  • Evaluate business economics, such as cost per dozen, using the Standard Cost Model, identify roadblocks, and take appropriate actions to resolve issues.
  • Work with CML owners on new product introductions and new CML openings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional field teams to ensure strategy, tactics, and execution align with brand objectives.
  • Manage personal expenses, adhere to policies, and document all franchisee interactions.
  • Position expected to spend 80% of time in production facilities (4 days a week) coaching, assessing, and supporting CML owners within their manufacturing environment.

Education/Experience:

  • Unmatched passion for results.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing and/or restaurant/retail management experience; QSR experience is a plus.
  • Food Safety certification such as ServSafe, AIB Food Safety Basics, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of donut/bakery production techniques/equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to develop strategic and tactical plans independently and solve business problems.
  • Problem-solving skills to proactively remove obstacles, resolve conflicts, and influence others.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite), auditing, and manufacturing software.
  • Occasional third shift work and late nights may be required.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

The role is 20% office-based and 80% in manufacturing/outdoor environments. Approximately 80% travel is required. The employee must be able to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds. Long periods of standing in various environments are expected.

Salary:

$100,000 - $120,000. The actual salary will depend on experience, education, training, and location.
