At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Manufacturing Automation Technician to help us advance the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Regularly interface with computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine centers and robotics using industry standard software and custom Aurora created systems.
- Work with minimum supervision fabricating metallic and composite parts, and performing dimensional inspection using automated and hand equipment.
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Support the Manufacturing Group in our Bridgeport, WV facility.
- Perform all aspects of metal and composite machining to include setup and operation of equipment such as: 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills, lathes, routers, manual milling machine and manual lathes.
- Perform all aspects of composites machining using industrial robotics to include setup and operation of equipment.
- Produce quality products in a timely manner using specifications and documents in conjunction with written work instructions.
- Use common measurement equipment such as calipers and pin gauges to verify and document quality of work.
- Adhere to all safety and security requirements within the facility.
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year related experience.
- Documented apprenticeship or trade school certification considered in combination of experience.
- Knowledge of geometric tolerancing is required.
- Be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, CAD models and written work instructions.
- Use of various measuring techniques for validating conformance to requirements.
- Effective interfacing with Engineers and Quality personnel.
- Use of standard hand tools such as drills, deburr tools, sanders and angle grinders.
- Previous CNC Machine Operation.
- Must be a U.S. Person.
- At least four (4) years of CNC machine operation experience.
- Ability to operate and program traditional 3 & 5-axis machine centers.
- Experience interfacing with industrial robotics.
- Advanced knowledge of GD&T and AS9100.
- College Associates Degree.
- Strong computer skills.
- Very strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
- Lift and transport objects up to 35 pounds; consistently stand, stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb, and kneel.
- Must be able to work any shift as job duties will require split shift/2nd shift after training.
- Flexible to work extended hours.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Work onsite in Bridgeport, WV.
