Job summary

Westrock Coffee is seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician to set up, adjust, operate, and maintain automated production equipment in a modern food production facility. You will coordinate maintenance activities, train technicians, and ensure safety, quality, and productivity in alignment with plant standards.

You will troubleshoot complex systems, lead preventive and predictive maintenance, and collaborate with production teams to resolve issues across shifts.

Qualifications

• Require Technical College/PLC Certification course or higher education.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the Industrial Maintenance field.
• Experience with 3-phase motors, gearboxes, bearings, solenoid valves, vacuum pumps, chains, sprockets, belts, rollers, star wheels, pneumatics, chillers, contactors, relays, fuses, breakers, photoelectric sensors, and ultrasonic sensors.
• Certificate as a CMT-2 through IMI within 6 months of placement.
• Validation from management as a subject matter expert on in-house equipment.
• Hold a certification in Welding.
• Able to read and understand complex instructions, prints, flowcharts, timing diagrams, and schematics.
• Able to articulate and relay instructions clearly to a variety of personnel.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors, or employees.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and prioritize planned work orders with day-to-day maintenance issues.
• Record and report on day's activities to maintenance supervisor and at shift handoff.
• Provide direction and training to maintenance technicians.
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, etc.
• Troubleshoot, repair or replace roaster components such as burners, valves, bearings, scrapers, etc.
• Troubleshoot, repair or replace hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical power components.
• Perform work order repairs, inspections and adjustments as well as preventative and predictive maintenance tasks.
• Set up and operate metalworking equipment such as hand tools, welders, drill press, sheet metal equipment, or grinders.
• Collaborate with production and warehouse personnel to resolve plant and process problems.
• Cross-train on system maintenance to obtain adequate coverage across all shifts.
• Assist management in developing standard operating procedures and duty cycles for repairs and maintenance.
• Interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals for systems overseen.
• Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
• Participate in plant safety, BRC, health and environmental programs.

Job description

Coordinates, schedules, and executes the planned and day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department to ensure the plant meets department and overall plant goals of safety, quality and productivity. Oversees and when necessary, trains maintenance technicians. All work is to be performed in a manner that complies with all federal, state, local, BRC, and company rules and regulations and with optimum regard for Plant Safety.

Principal Job Duties:

• Required to interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals for systems being overseen.
• Performs all other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
• Participates in plant safety, BRC, health and environmental programs.

Minimum Required Qualifications: Will not hire someone unless they have this skillset

• Require Technical College/PLC Certification course or higher education
• Require minimum of 5 years' experience in the Industrial Maintenance field
• Require experience with 3-phase motors, gearboxes, bearings, solenoid values, vacuum pumps, chains, sprockets, belts, rollers, star wheels, pneumatics, chillers, contactors, relays, fuses, breakers, photoelectric sensors, and ultrasonic sensors.
• Require applicants to certificate as a CMT-2 through IMI (International Maintenance Institute) within 6 months of placement
• Require validation from management on "subject matter expert" on in house equipment
• Required to hold a certification in Welding
• Must be able to read and understand complex instructions, prints, flowcharts, timing diagrams, and schematics
• Must have able to clearly articulate and relay instructions to a variety of personnel ranging from upper management to other hourly associates
• Must have ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must have ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors, or employees of the organization

Preferred Qualifications: Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• CMRT certification highly preferred
• Prefer Industrial Electrician Certification
• Prefer 8+ years' experience of manufacturing maintenance in a food grade facility
• Allen Bradley VFD training preferred
• Prefer experience with fabricating various plastics and metals into various shapes and structures as needed
• Must have positive conflict management skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• May be required to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
• Will be required to be On Call Maintenance as requested by Maintenance Manager.
• This position is in a Plant environment and will include exposure to loud noises, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.
• Must be able to work in extreme cold or extreme heat environments.
• Must have technical aptitude with both power tools and hand tools.
• Must be able to retain technical training and work independently.
• Must be able to stand and walk on hard floors for long hours.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, twist, squat, crouch and reach above the shoulders.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, etc.
