Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is seeking an Accountant to support accounting functions at our sawmills and fabrication shop in Eugene and Noti, Oregon. The role is based in our Eugene office with occasional travel to Noti.

You will handle division accounting, inventory cost management, fixed assets, and period closes, while mentoring staff and maintaining controls. The company offers strong benefits and growth opportunities in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 2 years’ progressive work experience in accounting.
• CPA a plus.
• Preference for manufacturing environments with inventory/cost accounting.
• Significant experience with general ledger functions.
• Prior experience with Project Cost Accounting preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with Excel proficiency.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
• Proven leadership and communication skills.
• Professional demeanor with ability to work in a team.
• Discretion with confidential Company information.

Responsibilities

• Assist with accounting for divisions, including financial statement prep/analysis, GL maintenance and reconciliations.
• Oversee inventory cost accounting (logs & lumber) across production stages, incl. counts.
• Manage fixed asset accounting and reconcile asset accounts.
• Monthly and year-end close, incl. audit/tax schedules.
• Participate in hiring, training, mentoring, and managing office staff.
• Ensure appropriate internal controls.
• Provide financial analysis for special projects.
• Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Recognize opportunities for improvement and act assertively.
• Work as a team member with accounting staff and management.
