Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is seeking an Accountant to support accounting at our Eugene and Noti, Oregon sites. Based in Eugene with occasional travel to Noti, you will assist with division accounting, oversee inventory costing, manage fixed assets, and handle month-end/year-end closes.

You will also participate in hiring and mentoring staff while upholding internal controls. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, 2 years of experience, and preference for

Responsibilities

• Assist with division accounting, financial statement prep and analysis, GL maintenance.
• Oversee inventory cost accounting across production stages and counts.
• Manage fixed asset accounting and reconciliations.
• Close monthly/yr-end for division and prepare audit/tax schedules.
• Participate in hiring, training, mentoring, and managing staff.
• Ensure internal controls are followed.
• Provide financial analysis for special projects.

Currently, we are seeking a qualified Accountant to support accounting functions at our sawmills and fabrication shop in Eugene and Noti, Oregon. This position will be based out of our Eugene office, with occasional travel to nearby Noti.

About the Position

• Assist with accounting for the divisions, including financial statement preparations and financial statement analysis, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and other analysis as needed
• Oversee inventory cost accounting (logs & lumber) at all stages of production from purchasing raw materials to shipments of finished product, including monthly and year-end inventory counts
• Manage fixed asset accounting and reconcile fixed asset accounts
• Monthly and year-end close for the division, including preparation of all audit and tax schedules
• Participate in hiring, training, mentoring, and managing office staff
• Ensure that appropriate internal control measures are followed
• Provide financial analysis as needed for special projects
• Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
• Recognize when and how to be assertive when improvement opportunities arise
• Work as a team member with company accounting staff and management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or significantly related field
• 2 years’ progressive work experience in accounting
• CPA a plus
• Preference given for experience in manufacturing environments, with a focus on inventory/cost accounting
• Significant experience with general ledger functions
• Prior experience with Project Cost Accounting preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products with significant experience creating and using Excel spreadsheets
• Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve problems

  The general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is from $80,000 and $105,000 per year, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.
