STS Aerospace (Kreisler) in Elmwood Park, NJ is seeking a manual TIG welder to join our team. You will weld metal parts using gas welding equipment as specified by layout, welding diagram or work instruction.

Responsibilities include positioning parts in fixtures, selecting torch and filler rod, adjusting gas flow, inspecting welds, repairing parts, preheating, tack welding, welding vertical/overhead lines, grinding, and cleaning. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.

• Proficient with welding equipment and safety procedures.

Responsabilidades

• Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor and clamp together per layout.
• Select torch, torch tip and filler rod per welding specifications.
• Connect regulator valves to gas cylinders and welding torch.
• Adjust gas flow and look for proper flame, weld beads and quality.
• Weld along joints, inspect bead size, and perform repairs as needed.
• Preheat workpieces, tack weld, and weld vertical/overhead sections.
• Grind excess welds and clean parts; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

STS Aerospace (Kreisler) in Elmwood Park, NJ is looking for a manual TIG welder to join our team. Employee welds metal parts with gas welding equipment as specified by layout, welding diagram or work instruction by performing the following duties.

Scope of Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

• Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
• Select torch, torch tip and filler rod according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal
• Connects regulator valves and hoses to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders, and welding torch.
• Turns regulator valves to activate flow of gases, lights torch and adjusts gas mixture and pressure, to obtain desired flame.
• Holds torch at proper angle to metal and guides along weld joint, applying filler road to molten area to form weld.
• Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts.
• Preheats workpiece in furnace or with torch.
• Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces.
• Welds along vertical or overhead weld lines.
• Scarfs or grooves weld prior to applying filler metal.
• Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
• Cleans or degreases parts.
• Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor
