Overview

KADANT BLACK CLAWSON LLC is an established leader in equipment and systems for the international pulp and paper process industries. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located in Lebanon, OH, where we design and manufacture our products for customers across the globe.

We currently seek to fill the role of Manual Machinist on first shift (M-TH or T-F 6 AM to 4:30 PM) to machine parts per blueprint or specific instructions using manual machine tools, such as Vertical Turning Lathes, Radial Drills, Horizontal Mills, Key Mills, Standard Lathes, and Blanchard Grinders, all while advancing KBC's mission of being a forward-thinking, collaborative, and ethical business.


Responsibilities

  1. Sets up, adjusts, and efficiently operates manual machine tools to perform diversified and difficult operations requiring close/exact tolerances on products with various dimensions and unusual contours and finish specifications.
  2. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials into machine.
  3. Maintains and inspects cutting tools for sharpness and usability.
  4. Calculates and sets controls and programming to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  5. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
  6. Basic programming skills.
  7. Cleans and maintains machine, tooling, and parts to ensure that equipment is in optimal production condition.
  8. Reports exceptions to the traveler, including hours and material used, to shop lead so the MOM can be adjusted, if necessary.
  9. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of KBC products.

Qualifications

  1. Ability to operate various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
  2. Ability to read blueprints and plans.
  3. Excellent mathematic and problem-solving skills.
  4. Excellent mechanical skills.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Excellent time management skills.
  7. Demonstrates KBC values of personal accountability, discipline, trust, and proactive action.
  8. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Vocational training course completion is preferred.
  9. Must be able to set up and operate manual machine equipment.
  10. Also required is the ability to operate forklift and overhead crane, read measuring instruments, and maintain machinery and equipment in the machining trade.
  11. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally; anything over 50 pounds requires two people, or the use of a lifting device.
