Job description

We are seeking a Manual Machinist to join our team who is committed to providing industry- leading customer service and quality work in our apparatus repair shop. This position will require a very strong attention to detail and strong knowledge of manual lathes, for the repair and fabrication of parts for electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, and other industrial components. This position is NOT ideal for candidates who only have CNC experience or prefer to only operate CNC equipment. Prior experience with electric motors and welding experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate manual machines (lathe, mill, grinder, drill press) to produce or modify metal parts.
  • Perform measurements using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Monitor machine operation and adjust as needed to maintain accuracy and quality.
  • Inspect finished parts for defects and ensure they meet tight tolerances and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency or product quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and report any equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in machining preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience operating manual machine tools.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Schedule:
  • Full-time
  • No less than 40 hours per week (We offer overtime pay for anything over a 10 hr day)
