RTX in Miramar, FL is hiring a skilled machinist to set up and operate manual machine tools and inspection equipment. You will read blueprints, achieve close tolerances, and inspect parts to ±0.0002 inches while maintaining a safe, organized shop environment.

This role supports CORE improvements and EH&S initiatives in a high-precision aerospace setting, with ongoing training and data entry responsibilities.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools.
• Ability to read, interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Machine and inspect parts to tight tolerances ±0.0002 in.
• English reading, writing and communication required.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

• Set up and run machines and inspection equipment
• Operate coordinates measuring machines for making accurate inspection checks
• Eliminate defects in set-up and operation of equipment
• Utilize computer system by inputting and retrieving information to perform normal daily activities.
• Participate in CORE continuous improvement and EH&S activities
• You will operate jig bores, lathes, mills, grinders and other specialized manual equipment
• and/or perform finish work and marking of piece parts in various stages of production.
• Maintaining an organized and safe work environment and help to drive improvements in the machine shop that will lead to increases in safety and efficiency.
• Accurately completing all paperwork associated with tasks being performed.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities as prescribed by engineering.
• Keeping up to date with all required training.
• Maintain accurate documentation and system inputs (shop traveler, labor charging, production tracking software, inspection results, etc.)

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
• Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and technical drawings.
• Ability to machine and inspect parts to close tolerances, including ±0.0002 inches.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience in aerospace manufacturing, repair, or overhaul environments.
• Toolmaking experience and working knowledge of machining processes, including grinding and lapping.
• Experience designing, building, or modifying tooling and fixtures.
• Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, including gauges, calipers, micrometers, and related inspection tools.
• Manufacturing Weld experience with magnesium.
