• Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, surface-finish requirements, and work-order instructions.
• Determine machining sequences and select cutting tools, speeds, and feeds.
• Perform turning, boring, drilling, milling, and threading operations.
• Mount and align workpieces and fixtures; inspect using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Verify dimensions and adjust as needed to maintain specifications.
• Maintain cleanliness and accurate production and inspection records.

Workover Solutions is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist for its Imperial, Pennsylvania facility. This hands-on shop role is responsible for independently setting up and operating manual machine tools to manufacture, repair, and rework downhole tool components. The position requires strong machining judgment, close adherence to drawings and work instructions, consistent inspection practices, and accurate documentation to support safe, reliable production.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently from engineering drawings and work instructions with limited supervision
• Strong focus on dimensional accuracy, inspection detail, and documentation quality
• Ability to follow established procedures, specifications, and approved work methods consistently
• Working knowledge of manual machining operations, including turning, boring, drilling, milling, and threading
• Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and thread gauges
• Sound judgment in identifying tool wear, chatter, workholding issues, dimensional drift, and surface-finish concerns
• Ability to maintain steady workmanship and reliable follow-through in a hands-on production environment
• Commitment to safe work practices and accurate production, inspection, and traceability records

Other Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Practical experience setting up and operating manual engine lathes required
• Ability to complete machining work independently from an engineering drawing or work instruction
• Experience machining oilfield, workover, drilling, or downhole tool components preferred
• Familiarity with ISO/API quality systems, material traceability, and controlled manufacturing documentation preferred
• Full-time, on-site role based in Imperial, Pennsylvania

Core Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual engine lathes, knee mills, drill presses, and related shop equipment to machine, repair, and rework downhole tool components
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, surface-finish requirements, and applicable work-order instructions
• Determine practical machining sequences and select appropriate work holding, cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material and setup conditions
• Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, reaming, grooving, parting, taper turning, and manual milling operations
• Cut and inspect internal and external threads, including single-point threads
• Mount, indicate, align, and securely hold workpieces, fixtures, and cutting tools
• Measure and inspect work using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, depth micrometers, thread gauges, and other applicable inspection equipment
• Verify critical dimensions during machining and make adjustments as needed to maintain specification requirements
• Support the make-up, break-down, inspection, and repair of downhole tools as required
• Complete work orders, travelers, inspection records, and material-traceability documentation accurately and on time
• Monitor machine condition and report abnormal operation, damaged tooling, unsafe conditions, or equipment concerns promptly
• Maintain machines, tooling, and the surrounding work area in a clean and serviceable condition
