A Manual Machinist 2 has the skills needed and is responsible for producing metal parts using manual lathes and mills. A Manual Machinist 2 can read and accurately use measuring tools. A Manual Machinist 2 can set up, operate and perform basic maintenance of the equipment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring projects are completed accurately and in accordance with GEM Equipment quality standards
- Operate Manual Machines (mills & lathes), forklifts and other equipment as required without supervision
- Change tooling when needed
- Monitor and add fluids to machines when needed
- Machine parts to specifications provided
- Complete any required paperwork for assigned projects
- Keep work area clean and sweep after every shift
- Possess your own precisions tools
- Possess protective equipment
- Steel toed boots
- Safety glasses

Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills:
Employees must:
- Be able to read measuring tools (Calipers & Micrometers)
- Be able to perform basic shop math
- Be able to run manual mills and lathes
- Be able to calculate material measurements to verify specifications
- Be able to measure parts in order to achieve acceptable tolerances
- Be able to perform tasks in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment
- Be able to handle a physical workload
- Be able to follow basic instructions and plans to complete projects
- Be able to multi-task. You may be required to run multiple machines
- Have advanced blueprint reading skills to meet product specifications
- Have an understanding of machining and the manufacturing process
Physical Requirements:
- Standing – 7+ hours per day
- Sitting – 7+ hour per day
- Walking – <1 hour per day
- Lifting – Up to 50 lbs
- Carrying – Up to 50 lbs
- Pushing/Pulling – Up to 100 lbs
- Environment – Inside 95%; Outside 5%
Experience – 3+ years
Wage is based on experience and knowledge of programing.
