Job summary

Preferred Manufacturing in North Haven, CT seeks a skilled machinist to set up and operate manual machines, interpret blueprints, select tools and materials, and monitor speeds for precision parts. Job description

• Set up and operate a variety of manual machines (Knee Mills, Lathes and Boring Mills etc.) to produce precision parts


• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine machining operations


• Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation for machining operations


• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process to ensure accuracy and quality of finished products


• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers etc.


• Make adjustments to machine settings to ensure proper functioning and optimal performance


• Perform routine maintenance on machines to keep them in good working condition

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing or production environment


• Proficiency in programming for CNC machines


• Strong knowledge of machining techniques, including milling, turning, drilling, and grinding


• Experience with power tools, hand tools, and welding equipment


• Familiarity with manufacturing principles and practices
