Job summary

Standard Aero is hiring a Manual Lathe Machinist in the United States. The role involves setting up, calbration, maintenance and operation of machining equipment to produce precise cuts, bends and forms.

1st shift hours and a competitive pay range with quarterly bonus opportunities are noted. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years in lathe/mill manual machining, strong blueprint reading ability, and experience with precision measuring instruments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of lathe/mill manual machinist experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of resolving problems involving machining of materials, fixtures tools etc.
  • Minimum 3 years of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average workday.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed.
  • Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces.
  • Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers. Troubleshoots, debugs and modifies to achieve expected performance.
  • Machines parts utilizing shop related equipment, manual skills may include but are not limited to polishing, lapping, turning, grinding, milling and EDM. CNC machinist operators may additionally engage in program related activities such as writing and modifications.
  • Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
  • Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
  • Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
  • Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

As a Manual Lathe Machinist, you will perform setup, calibration, maintenance and operation of machining equipment, to make complex precise cuts, bends, alignments and forms of requisite materials. Cross-trains in other complementary skills as needed to support production requirements.

Pay Range: $26.41 - $39.62 per hour plus quarterly bonus opportunity. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Shift Availability

What you'll do:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of lathe/mill manual machinist experience is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of resolving problems involving machining of materials, fixtures tools etc
  • Minimum 3 years of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average workday.
  • Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods for 50% of shift.
  • Ability to workday shift as required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
Desired Skills:
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.
  • Experience or knowledge of CNC machining
  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program; or equivalent.
  • Attainment of trade certification.
  • Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, rework process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals, and MSDS labels.
