Job summary

IKG USA LLC in Georgia is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate manual machine tools, interpret drawings, and inspect finished parts to tolerances. Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent is required.
• 2-year associate degree in a related technical field is preferred.
• 1-3 years of manual machining experience required.
• Experience on a Manual Lathe and a Manual Mill is required.
• Vocational courses in mathematics, geometry, blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, metalworking, drafting and quality and safety practices are recommended.
• 5–7 years related industrial experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Receives prints, sketches, or instructions for work assignment.
• Interprets drawings and sketches, determines dimensions, tapers, and other data.
• Selects and grinds tools based on material properties.
• Sets up and operates machine tools to drill, face, cut, turn, bore, mill, or shape components to tolerances.
• Repairs, adjusts, and maintains equipment; performs assemblies and aligns gears, bearings, shafts, clutches, brakes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Keeps work area neat and records job time and daily production.

Description

Sets up and operates all types of machine tools, performs all types of fitting and assembly work, and repairs and installs necessary parts in electrical and mechanical equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Receives prints, sketches, and/or instructions regarding work assignment.
• Interprets drawings and sketches, calculates and determines dimensions, tapers, and other data as required.
• Selects and grinds tools in accordance with hardness, machine ability, and other properties of materials and parts.
• Procures or makes jigs, fixtures, or machine attachments required for work to be machined.
• Sets up and operates machine tools to drill, face, cut, turn, bore, mill, or shape iron, steel, alloys, etc. to required tolerances and specified finishes.
• Makes all necessary mechanical repairs to equipment; dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, adjusts, and lubricates equipment for proper operating characteristics.
• Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, shafts; works on clutches, brakes, pneumatic and hydraulic systems as required.
• Hooks, directs, and/or operates a crane in moving machinery or parts for installation, machining, or repair.
• May set up and/or operate all plant production type machinery and equipment at any time for the amount of time required to perform work of a non-productive nature necessary to the performance of maintenance duties, such as saws, drill presses, lift trucks, etc.
• Reports any malfunction of equipment to supervisor.
• Performs other miscellaneous related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Keeps immediate working area neat and orderly.
• Records job time and makes daily time and production report.
• Performs job tasks and operates machinery in a safe manner. Follows safe operating procedures and other safety-related instructions.
• Participates in safety meetings, audits, committees, inspections, etc.
• Required to adhere to all safety rules and regulations and participate in safety efforts.

1-3 years of Manual machining experience

Experience on a Manual Lathe and Mill

Vocational school courses in mathematics and geometry, blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, metalworking, drafting and quality and safety practices are highly recommended
