Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Pay Rate: $35.00 - $37.00 per hour

Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday - Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Vocational or technical machining training is a plus.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge or experience preferred.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of manual machining experience.
• Experience operating manual engine lathes, Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), Horizontal Boring Mills (HBMs), and surface grinders preferred.
• Proven ability to machine parts to tight tolerances of .001 inch.
• Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, coated components, and composite materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Horizontal mill experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling selection, and workholding methods.
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to train and mentor other machinists.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the work shift.
• Capable of handling machine tooling, fixtures, and machined components safely.
• Ability to perform detailed measurements and inspections accurately.
• Must consistently follow PPE and machine safety requirements.

Job Duties

• Select, install, and adjust tooling, chucks, jaws, fixtures, and cutting tools.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment to verify quality and specifications.
• Deburr, clean, and prepare completed components for the next operation.
• Support pump and rotating equipment repair projects while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
