LeoForce is seeking a seasoned Manual Lathe Machinist in Grand Island, NE to perform precision manual machining, train staff, and support inventory optimization for pump components.

Expect to set up lathes and mills, read blueprints, and maintain paper-based inventory while collaborating with production and warehouse teams to meet demand and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of manual machining experience, preferably in pump or industrial component manufacturing.
• Deep understanding of vertical turbine pump parts, fitment and functions.
• Experience training others and sharing technical knowledge effectively.
• Strong organizational skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand product structures.
• Comfortable with paper-based inventory processes (non-digital).
• Proactive mindset for continuous improvement and process optimization.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual machine tools (lathes, mills, etc.) to manufacture pump shafts and small parts to precise specs.
• Inspect and verify workpieces using measuring instruments and blueprints.
• Train and mentor employees on component recognition, assembly procedures, and quality expectations.
• Support manual cycle counts, part identification, and kit building for rebuilt pump assemblies.
• Oversee and recommend inventory location improvements to enhance efficiency and process flow.
• Maintain accurate paper-based inventory tracking and documentation.
• Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to align with production demands.
• Support a positive work environment and champion good work culture.
• Contribute to a clean, safe, and organized work environment per policies.
• All other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

We’re seeking a highly experienced Machine Operator 4 to perform manual machining of small parts and shafts for vertical turbine pumps. In addition to precision machining, this role includes training employees in product identification and pump assembly knowledge, and providing critical support in inventory improvement. Approximately 30-40% of the role involves manual inventory assignments such as part identification, kit building, and inventory location improvement to support process flow.
