About this role:

This role will be a creative and proven service leader pushing the envelope in food and beverage operations through understanding current trends in the industry.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Training and Experience: Two+ years cooking experience in upscale, luxury hotel or freestanding restaurant, and post-secondary culinary training/certification as “Cook” from a recognized culinary training school.

Job Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Food Service Sanitation Standards and kitchen equipment.

Job Summary:

Prepares food cooked to order, according to approved standard recipes. Plates food for service according to established criteria, ensuring high quality and timely service.

Physical Abilities:

Ability to stand, stoop, bend; lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  2. Arrive to work on time consistently.
  3. Arrive in proper attire upon entering the property.
  4. Maintain clean and professional grooming standards.
  5. Attend required training, safety courses, and meetings.
  6. Report safety hazards and assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
  7. Organize work area with necessary supplies and equipment.
  8. Inspect and rotate food products to ensure freshness.
  9. Prepare and store raw food products prior to cooking.
  10. Follow standardized recipes for menu items.
  11. Adhere to portion control guidelines and minimize waste.
  12. Plate cooked foods according to established guidelines.
  13. Monitor finished product for timely service.
  14. Ensure quality and timely preparation of food.
  15. Follow all Food Sanitation Standards.
  16. Monitor refrigeration and holding temperatures; maintain cleanliness of work surfaces.
  17. Use kitchen equipment safely and according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  18. Notify supervisor of equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.
  19. Notify steward of need for clean dishes and utensils.
  20. Return soiled items to the pot wash area and inform steward of HOT items.
  21. Clean and break down work area at the end of the shift.
  22. Complete all closing tasks and secure the kitchen.
  23. Promote teamwork skills at all times.
  24. Notify appropriate individuals of significant issues promptly.
  25. Provide a polite and friendly atmosphere for guests and co-workers.
  26. Execute emergency procedures in accordance with Epping standards.
  27. Comply with safety regulations and procedures.
  28. Maintain cleanliness and condition of equipment and work area.
