Job summary

Kondex Corporation is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician/CNC Programmer for 1st shift in San Diego. The role supports engineering and manufacturing efforts, including fixture specification, CNC programming, and launching new products.

You will help define processes, assist with prototypes, and ensure operator training on new processes. The position requires masters in multi-axis CNC programming, Mastercam experience, SolidWorks familiarity, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or Journeyman status preferred.
• Technical training and experience using Mastercam CNC programming software, including 5 axis programming.
• 2–3 years of work experience in a technical role with multi-axis CNC programming.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
• Experience designing or implementing cells, flow lines or other manufacturing processes.
• Machinery maintenance or tool and die experience; reading blueprints and other instructions.

Responsibilities

• Specify machinery and equipment for new products and oversee installation and startup.
• Perform CNC programming in Mastercam, including 5 axis control.
• Assist in tooling, fixtures, and process controls development.
• Document process changes (work instructions, routings) and maintain records.
• Ensure effective operator training for new/revised processes.
• Perform CNC and robotic production support.
• Construct prototypes for internal/field testing per Product Engineering.
• Conduct process testing and prepare test reports with recommendations.
• Render technical assistance in design, construction, and testing of components and processes.
• Assist with supplier qualification and PPAP/APQP activities.

Description

Kondex is looking for a 1st shift Manufacturing Engineering Technician/CNC Programmer.

• Hours: 1st shift, Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
• Hours can fluctuate depending on customer requirements and training needs
• Reports to Manager of Manufacturing Engineering
  

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician/CNC Programmer is responsible for performing a variety of technical assignments in direct support of engineering and manufacturing efforts, including those efforts necessary to launch new products; fixture specification, CNC programming; defining process and operating parameters; investigation and evaluation of process capabilities and problems; expediting the design and construction of prototypes; equipment specification and purchasing; assisting with machinery repairs and maintenance; and ensuring that effective operator training is in place for new and revised processes.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Specify machinery and equipment for new products and product improvements, as assigned, and oversee its installation and startup
2. Perform CNC programming in Mastercam CNC programming software, including 5 axis control programming
3. Assist in the development of tooling, fixtures, and process controls
4. Document all initiated process changes in an appropriate manner (work instructions, routings, etc) and maintain records of changes, as necessary
5. Ensure effective operator training is in place for new and revised processes
6. Perform CNC and robotic production support
7. Construct prototypes for internal and field testing, as directed by Product Engineering
8. Perform process (new product and process improvement) testing and prepare test reports, along with recommendations
9. Render technical assistance in areas of design, construction and testing of components and processes
10. Recommend suppliers and assist in qualifying new suppliers
11. Assist with PPAP and APQP activities, such as capability studies, FMEA’s, control plans, etc.

Requirements

1. Associate degree in mechanical/ manufacturing engineering or Journeyman status in appropriate technical discipline preferred. Additional experience may substitute for education preference.
2. Technical training and experience using Mastercam CNC programming software or a comparable software, including 5 axis control programming required.
3. 2-3 years of work experience in a technical role, with emphasis on multi-axis CNC programming
4. Must be able to work independently, with minimal direction and supervision.
5. Experience in designing or implementing cells, flow lines or other manufacturing processes
6. Machinery maintenance or tool and die experience
7. Experience reading company documents, such as blueprints and other instructions
8. Proficiency in using 3D software, preferably SolidWorks
9. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required; experience with MS Project is preferred
10. Highly desirable behavioral competencies include communication team management, problem solving and decision making, high standards and organizing and planning
