Job summary

Mission Essential seeks Mandarin-speaking linguists at ILR Level 2+ to provide accurate interpretation and translation for unaccompanied minors in refugee programs. You will support Care Staff and URM with focus on clear communication across languages and cultures.

Linguists will perform onsite interpretation at ORR locations and remote interpretation as needed. Ability to work independently with discretion, and to translate documents as required, is essential.

Qualifications

• ILR Level 2+ proficiency in English and Mandarin.
• Tier 2 background check completed.
• Strong discretion and professional judgment in linguistics.
• Autonomy to manage language services for ORR programs.
• Ability to navigate language and cultural nuances in sensitive settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person, onsite interpretation at ORR programs and locations (preferred).
• Deliver remote interpretation via telephone or videoconference as needed, including 24/7 requests.
• Facilitate accurate communication between Care Staff, UC/UAM/URM and others.
