Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Managing Partner, Government Relations at Smith & Maye. The Managing Partner will lead and oversee the firm's government contracting and RFP strategy across local, territorial, and federal agencies. This includes identifying opportunities, building agency relationships, managing the proposal development process, and ensuring compliant, timely submissions aligned with our investment and service capabilities.

Day-to-day responsibilities include engaging directly with procurement officials, responding to RFPs and RFIs, developing capture strategies, coordinating internal teams for technical responses, and representing Smith & Maye in pre-bid meetings, public forums, and government engagement sessions. This role is critical to expanding our footprint in public sector partnerships and unlocking contract-based revenue opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with RFP strategy, government contracting, and proposal development
  • Deep understanding of public procurement processes (federal, state, and local)
  • Proven ability to build relationships with government procurement and agency leaders
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams on complex submissions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing and executive summaries
  • Familiarity with SAM.gov, GSA schedules, and contract vehicles is a plus
  • Understanding of financial services, economic development, or investment is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business, or related field; Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., APMP) preferred
  • Ability to work independently and remotely while driving results across time zones
