NYC School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) is seeking a Managing Inspector (Roofing, Masonry, Civil, Architectural Unit) to lead code-mandated and owner-required inspections on school construction projects in New York City. You will supervise cross-disciplinary inspection teams, review complex QA issues, and ensure compliance with contract documents and codes.
The role requires substantial construction inspection experience, supervisory ability, and a preference for NYS P.E. or RA licensure.

The Construction Inspection Division (CID) inspects the installation of materials and equipment on SCA projects to verify that the contractors install these systems as per the SCA plans, specifications and relevant codes. CID is organized into units such as Plumbing, Fire Suppression, Boiler/Fuel Burning Inspection; Electrical and Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC); Roofing, Masonry and Sheet Metal Inspection; and Civil, Architectural, Window and Door Inspection. CID works closely with Architecture & Engineering (A&E), Construction Management and Building Code Compliance to ensure that the SCA receives a quality product.
The Managing Inspector (Roofing, Masonry, Civil, Architectural Unit) provides leadership, supervision, and technical expertise for code mandated and owner required inspections on school construction projects. This role oversees inspection activities across multiple disciplines to ensure compliance with contract documents, applicable codes, and Authority standards, and is responsible for reviewing and resolving complex engineering and architectural quality assurance issues throughout all phases of construction.
Managerial/Non-Competitive – Salary Range: $91,193 – $155,274.

Six years of full‑time progressively responsible construction experience and/or performing inspections in civil, electrical, heating (ventilation and air conditioning), plumbing and drainage; or quality assurance; and three years in an administrative or supervisory capacity in one of the technical areas specified above or a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
