Description

The Managing Editor & Visual Effects Artist is responsible for producing high-quality, engaging video content across broadcast, digital, and social media platforms while leading the day-to-day editorial operations of the department and supervising members of the Editorial team. This role combines advanced technical expertise in non-linear editing, color correction, visual effects, and motion graphics with operational leadership that ensures efficient editorial workflows, consistent creative execution, and timely project delivery.

In addition to hands-on post-production work, the Managing Editor & Visual Effects Artist coordinates editorial resources, facilitates training and knowledge sharing for the Editorial team, and helps establish and maintain post-production standards and best practices. This role collaborates closely with producers, directors, and cross-functional partners to ensure projects are executed efficiently and delivered in alignment with creative direction, technical specifications, and brand standards. The ideal candidate brings extensive post-production experience, strong visual storytelling skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and consistently meeting demanding deadlines.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Editorial department, coordinating editorial resources, project assignments, and production priorities to ensure efficient workflows and timely delivery of content.
  • Supervise and support members of the Editorial team, including assigning work, providing feedback, facilitating training, and contributing to performance evaluations and professional development.
  • Coordinate with producers, directors, and cross-functional teams to align editorial resources, schedules, and deliverables with production timelines and organizational priorities.
  • Facilitate training and knowledge sharing for the Editorial team, supporting onboarding, skill development, and consistent adoption of post-production tools, workflows, and best practices.
  • Edit long-form and short-form video content for broadcast, digital, and social media distribution, ensuring alignment with creative direction, technical specifications, and brand standards.
  • Interpret scripts, storyboards, and creative briefs to craft compelling visual narratives that support storytelling and audience engagement goals.
  • Perform advanced color correction, visual effects, and motion graphics integration to produce polished, broadcast-ready deliverables.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and editorial priorities, ensuring deadlines, quality expectations, and production schedules are consistently met.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet established technical quality control standards, including format, resolution, audio levels, captioning, and file specifications.
  • Maintain organized project files, media assets, and version control in accordance with departmental workflows and archival procedures.
  • Troubleshoot technical and creative challenges within the post-production environment and recommend effective solutions.
  • Provide mentorship, direction, and performance feedback to editors, supporting team development and maintaining consistency of creative and technical output.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of editorial workflows, project standards, and post-production processes, incorporating emerging technologies and AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production and organizational objectives.
Requirements
  • BA/BS Degree in Film, Television, Media Production, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of professional post-production experience in broadcast, studio, agency, or digital media environments, including experience coordinating editorial workflows or supporting editorial team operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in industry-standard non-linear editing systems (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, and/or Final Cut Pro) and motion graphics/VFX tools (e.g., Photoshop, After Effects, Mocha, Nuke).
  • Demonstrated expertise in color correction, visual effects integration, and finishing workflows for broadcast and digital delivery.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate editorial resources, facilitate team collaboration, and work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Experience delivering content for multiple distribution platforms, including broadcast, streaming, web, and social media.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, organization, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Excellent creative judgment, visual storytelling skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize editorial workloads while maintaining accuracy, organization, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced production environment and respond constructively to feedback and changing priorities.
