Job description

Ridgewood Medical Media, LLC is a print and online information company with unique offerings for Laboratory Administrators, Pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals. For 20+ years, Ridgewood Medical Media has published monthly, peer-to-peer publications covering innovation, regulation, and optimization in the fields of hospital pharmacy and laboratory practice. We also provide a patented information platform, producing a polished technical tool for our advertising partners.

Ridgewood Medical Media is seeking a Managing Editor to oversee editorial operations, financial performance, and expand the reach of the publication. Working closely with the Editorial Director, the sales team, and the production team, the Managing Editor will lead day-to-day editorial operations, drive product launches and strategy, and support advertiser partnerships from concept through final delivery.

About the Role

Reporting to Ridgewood Medical Media’s Editorial Director, you will manage a team of experienced editors to support content delivery, deliver insightful analysis, and advance the quality and impact of the publication.

Each month, you will be jointly responsible for end-to-end content delivery for our monthly publications: recruiting thought leaders to write timely pieces and then editing and overseeing the publishing of feature articles. You should be able to polish technically precise articles and elevate the work of your colleagues to a similar level. This includes improving the quality of the writing itself, as well as identifying technical passages that need clarification, revision, or deeper exploration.

This is a highly collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be eager to join in on brainstorming sessions, self-motivated to drive projects, and assist others on the team as needed.

Larger scale projects, such as new product launches, publication redesigns, and digital content expansions—will also be a key part of this role, offering opportunities to shape the future direction of our growing editorial products.

Primary/Ongoing Responsibilities
  • Be a self-directed, high-level contributor to the editorial process from ideation to publication.
  • Manage two or more feature articles per issue with full ownership: conduct interviews, write outlines, revise copy, input factcheck changes and verify against industry standards, input copy edits, work with art director to finesse article layouts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with thought leaders and editorial board members; recruit new authors.
  • Represent the company in a public-facing way, such as on LinkedIn, when interviewing authors, and at professional conferences.
  • Collaborate with the Development and Editorial teams to improve team standards and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Your Strengths
  • Medical editorial/medical communications background (eg, working with CE, manuscripts, content development, etc)
  • Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong ability to track deliverables across editorial projects to ensure deadlines and expectations are met
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Experience managing teams and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Your Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an editorial or medical communications role
  • Product launch experience
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Adobe InCopy is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree
