Job summary

BerkeleyHaas Ventures at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business seeks an experienced venture capitalist to lead as Managing Director. This high-impact role blends professional investing with education, mentorship, and institutional partnership.

As the lead investment professional, you’ll oversee all assets, manage the Advisory Committee, build the fund’s network, and foster student engagement while delivering top-quartile returns and advancing Berkeley entrepreneurship.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of venture capital or equivalent experience.
• Deep familiarity with the venture fund lifecycle and fundraising.
• Ability to mentor and teach students and early-career talent.
• Existing relationships within the venture ecosystem including investors, founders, advisors, accelerators, legal and finance advisory.
• Excellent judgment and alignment with the academic values of UC Berkeley and Haas.

Responsibilities

• Own the full investment lifecycle from thesis development, sourcing, diligence, negotiations, and exit management.
• Manage fund administration, LP relations, reporting, and compliance with counsel and administrators.
• Lead capital-raising activities including discussions, outreach, and closing commitments.
• Develop and maintain fund materials, due diligence packs, and LP communications.
• Leverage the Berkeley network to attract institutional LPs, family offices, and investors.
• Support a student associate program with faculty and participation in sourcing and diligence.
• Mentor students and represent the fund at BerkeleyHaas events and conferences.
• Proactively source opportunities with Berkeley connections.
• Provide post-investment support to portfolio founders with introductions and strategic counsel.
• Serve as an ambassador for Berkeley entrepreneurship.
