MANAGING DIRECTOR, STORYCORPS STUDIOS & BRAND PARTNERSHIPS

Department: StoryCorps Studios

Division: Revenue

Location: Brooklyn, NY (open to remote)

Reports To: Chief Revenue Officer

Status: Full Time, Regular, Exempt, Non-Union

Salary: $145,000 - $150,000

THE ROLE

The Managing Director, StoryCorps Studios and Brand Partnerships, leads our revenue streams, forging partnerships with brands seeking authentic storytelling and sponsorship opportunities. This role combines creative vision with business acumen to position StoryCorps' storytelling methodology as a premium service, developing relationships across sectors and transforming expertise into sustainable revenue through brand partnerships and storytelling projects.

StoryCorps Studios applies our award-winning methodologies to tell stories through real voices, offering recording, archiving, and producing co-branded audio stories with visual assets. The Managing Director will be entrepreneurial, responsible for business development, exceeding revenue goals, and growth planning. They will manage a team, develop new offerings, and work closely with various departments and external partners.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  1. Create and refine a business growth plan based on success metrics and market factors.
  2. Design and execute sales and marketing strategies to meet revenue targets.
  3. Build a pipeline of prospects for sponsorship across programs and services.
  4. Lead pitches and develop proposals aligned with client interests and StoryCorps' ethos.
  5. Innovate new service offerings to maximize impact and revenue.
  6. Manage relationships with NPR and other sponsors.
  7. Inspire and lead a team responsible for partnerships and content development.
  8. Oversee department goals, financial forecasts, and reporting.
  9. Represent StoryCorps publicly in meetings and speaking engagements.
  10. Perform additional duties to support revenue and sponsorship activities.
ABOUT YOU

Required:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in brand partnerships with sales & account management.
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue goals.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive for reinvention.
  • Experience across platforms like branded content, podcasts, events, and activations is a plus.
  • Strong ability to develop and oversee budgets of $1-5 million.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed and work in a diverse environment.
