Managing Director, Primary Curriculum and Instruction

The Opportunity

The Managing Director of Primary Curriculum and Instruction will co-create and execute the vision for primary curriculum and instruction, focusing on foundational literacy. This role involves decision-making authority to shape daily academic practices and ensure alignment with KTX’s mission and goals.

Collaboration with multiple departments will be essential to ensure consistency in practice and resource use. The position aims to continuously improve the skills and knowledge of middle and high school leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement a vision for foundational literacy and math curriculum and instruction.
  2. Manage curriculum creation, vetting, and assessment development aligned with state standards and college readiness benchmarks.
  3. Lead data-driven curriculum adjustments to enhance student achievement.
  4. Design and lead professional development for teachers and leaders, focusing on curriculum implementation and pedagogical best practices.
  5. Create a cohesive coaching cycle to internalize instructional practices.
  6. Monitor and evaluate curriculum effectiveness and student performance data.
  7. Hire, manage, and develop a team of curriculum writers and instructional leaders.
  8. Ensure effective policies and procedures for primary education programs, including compliance with state requirements.
  9. Support regional and school leaders in instructional planning and implementation.
  10. Visit schools regularly to monitor curriculum implementation and build instructional capacity.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to develop and deliver effective curriculum and programming that improves academic outcomes for diverse student populations.
  • Deep understanding of curriculum frameworks, pedagogy, and classroom materials across grade levels and subjects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to build relationships and lead teams.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and implement systemic solutions.
  • Experience in instructional coaching, professional development, and fostering a culture of inquiry and accountability.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is based on experience, education, and expertise. Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and more, starting as low as $25/month.
