Managing Director, Primary Curriculum and Instruction

The Opportunity

The Managing Director of Primary Curriculum and Instruction will co-create and implement the vision for primary curriculum and instruction, focusing on foundational literacy, across our schools. This role involves decision-making authority on academic vision and accountability for achieving KTX’s mission and goals.

Collaboration across departments to ensure consistent practices and resource use is essential, as is continuous improvement in the skills and knowledge of middle and high school leaders.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage curriculum and assessment development to meet and exceed state standards and prepare students for AP success.
  • Lead data-driven curriculum adjustments to improve student achievement.
  • Design and lead professional development aligned with curriculum goals, supporting teachers and leaders.
  • Create a cohesive coaching cycle to internalize and improve lesson instruction.
  • Develop strategies to strengthen math curriculum and instruction.
  • Oversee policies and procedures related to primary education programs.
  • Support regional and school leaders in effective instructional planning and implementation.
  • Evaluate primary education programs for effectiveness.
  • Manage budgets and grants to support programs.
  • Analyze academic performance data to inform curriculum adjustments.
  • Hire and manage curriculum writers, ensuring high-quality materials and assessments.
  • Monitor curriculum implementation through school visits and classroom observations.
  • Build instructional leadership capacity among school leaders.
  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain professional knowledge through research and development efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership.
  • Required Expertise and Skills:

  • Proven ability to develop programming that improves academic outcomes, with effective differentiation practices.
  • Deep understanding of curricular frameworks, pedagogy, and classroom materials across grade levels and subjects.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional practices and curriculum implementation leadership.
  • Commitment to equity, cultural competence, and urban education.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, systems thinking, and project management abilities.
  • Leadership skills to motivate, build teams, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Compensation and Benefits

    Salary depends on experience, education, and expertise. Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and more, starting as low as $25/month.
