Job summary

OMERS Private Equity is seeking a Managing Director to join the Operations & Strategy team in New York or Toronto. The role partners with portfolio companies to drive operational and strategic improvements, delivering value creation plans and robust governance across the portfolio.

The candidate should bring 15+ years of leadership, operating experience, and PE expertise, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage complex change programs.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional experience including leadership roles, operating experience, management consulting, and private equity.
• Proven experience in strategic planning and strategy development.
• Experience managing multiple projects with diverse stakeholders.
• Track record of value creation through revenue and operational improvements with measurable impact.
• Transaction and due diligence experience.
• Strategic and results-oriented mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach.
• Strong influencing and collaboration skills, including influencing senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior advisor or board-facing leader to create value through portfolio company management teams.
• Lead high-value engagements across a focused set of portfolio companies.
• Contribute to diligence by quantifying value creation opportunities and assessing management capabilities.
• Translate investment theses into actionable 100-day plans and long-term value creation roadmaps.
• Ensure robust value creation plans with KPIs, governance, and governance routines across investments.
• Engage with senior management to ensure delivery of value creation plans.
• Advance the top value creation initiatives in portfolio companies across revenue, margins, operating model, and tech/AI transformation.
• Collaborate with the Operations & Strategy team to advance portfolio management and best practices.
• Mentor junior colleagues and model collaborative culture while challenging assumptions.
• Build relationships internally at OMERS and externally with boards, executives, and advisors.
