Qualifications

Startup Opportunity

HTX is currently building its next-generation industrialized housing platform and expects this position to be filled by Q1 2027 in advance of company launch.

This is a unique opportunity to help design, commission, staff, and launch a world-class housing manufacturing operation from the ground up. The successful candidate will play a leading role in establishing the factory, workforce, operating systems, production standards, quality programs, maintenance systems, and leadership culture that will serve as the foundation of HTX’s long‑term growth.

This role is intended for a builder, not a caretaker. We are seeking a leader who is energized by creating systems, building teams, solving problems, and transforming ideas into scalable operations.

Position Overview

The Managing Director, Factory Operations serves as the senior executive responsible for all manufacturing operations within the HTX industrialized housing platform. This role leads production, logistics, maintenance, quality management, workforce development, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives to support predictable, high‑volume housing delivery.

The successful candidate will transform housing construction from a traditional project‑based activity into a manufacturing‑driven production system while building a culture centered on operational excellence, servant leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will work closely with Design & Engineering, Land Development, Homebuilding Operations, and Mortgage Banking leadership to ensure synchronized execution across the platform.

Education & Experience Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field.
• 10 years of manufacturing leadership experience.
• 5 years leading large‑scale production operations.
• Experience in modular, panelized, industrialized housing, building products, automotive, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience scaling production operations through periods of significant growth.
• Strong background in workforce development, leadership development, and succession planning.
• Proven ability to build and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated history of operational excellence, process discipline, and organizational development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree (MBA, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related discipline).
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, or Industrial Engineering certifications.
• Experience with DfMA, industrialized construction, modular construction, or panelized housing systems.
• Experience implementing ERP, MES, PLM, automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Experience managing manufacturing organizations exceeding 100 employees.

Primary Responsibilities

Startup & Commissioning

• Lead factory startup, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
• Assist in equipment procurement, installation, and startup planning.
• Develop manufacturing processes, standard operating procedures, and quality systems.
• Build the factory leadership team and initial workforce.
• Establish performance standards, reporting systems, and operational controls.

Operational Leadership

• Lead all factory operations including production, logistics, maintenance, quality, inventory, scheduling, and safety.
• Develop annual operating plans aligned with company objectives.
• Establish and maintain key operational performance indicators.
• Drive operational excellence throughout the organization.

Production & Throughput Optimization

• Achieve production, quality, safety, and cost performance objectives.
• Optimize labor utilization, workflow, and material movement.
• Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives that improve throughput and reduce waste.
• Support takt-based production planning and execution.

Quality & Process Management

• Establish manufacturing quality standards and quality assurance systems.
• Ensure products consistently meet engineering, regulatory, and customer requirements.
• Implement root‑cause analysis and corrective action programs.
• Maintain process discipline and standardized work throughout the facility.

Maintenance & Reliability

• Develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Maximize equipment reliability and production uptime.
• Lead capital equipment planning and replacement initiatives.
• Ensure proper stewardship of manufacturing assets.

Workforce Development

• Recruit, develop, and retain a highly capable manufacturing workforce.
• Build leadership capability throughout the organization.
• Implement training programs promoting technical excellence and cross‑functional understanding.
• Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous learning.
