Managing Director, Leadership Annual Giving and Philanthropy Operations - Remote

This is a fully remote position and can be based anywhere within the U.S.

Provides leadership for Philanthropy Leadership Annual Giving and Philanthropy Operations teams. This role drives accountability by developing and leading strategy for long-term growth of the Leadership Annual Giving program to ensure a continuous pipeline of Major Gift donors. Also responsible for multi-million dollar income targets and management of a team of Directors and Leadership Annual Giving Managers. Collaborates with field and enterprise leadership to develop plans to meet and exceed targets. Oversees an operations team that provides strategic resources and support for all enterprise Philanthropy team members to reach financial goals, including strategy for the Prospect Research and Operations nationwide teams to equip regions with necessary data and resources.

The role also involves leading priority strategies and enterprise-wide initiatives within the Philanthropy department, supporting the Society’s regional needs, and facilitating engagement across regions. Serves as a liaison between Regional Philanthropy leadership and enterprise Development teams, ensuring connectivity and execution excellence. Leads or participates in enterprise projects with regional impact, especially innovative approaches. Manages relationship-driven fundraising strategies nationwide, including CRM adoption, culture, onboarding, processes, training, tracking, and evaluation.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the achievement of nationwide revenue goals, aiming for growth to $100M+ annually.
  2. Monitor progress towards leadership annual giving goals and adjust strategies as needed.
  3. Develop strategies for high-touch donor cultivation and stewardship to grow the major gift pipeline.
  4. Implement strategies to ensure continuous donor engagement and support the capital campaign's growth.
  5. Develop data, engagement strategies, policies, and procedures across philanthropy functions.
  6. Ensure reporting and analytics support philanthropy performance measurement and decision-making.
  7. Coordinate with external consultants and internal teams to maximize ROI on external support.
  8. Drive engagement initiatives and facilitate best practices across regions.
  9. Lead enterprise projects with regional impact, providing strategic guidance and ensuring successful execution.
  10. Identify and implement process improvements within regional philanthropy departments.
  11. Foster collaboration between regions and headquarters departments to improve processes and resolve issues.
  12. Establish and oversee performance objectives for regional staff, promoting accountability and growth.
  13. Address escalated issues and serve as the regional point of contact for philanthropy questions.
  14. Evaluate and refine regional philanthropy operations to meet current needs.
  15. Partner with headquarters for strategic planning and resource allocation.
  16. Model behaviors that promote a culture of trust, cooperation, and dedication to the mission.
  17. Manage and mentor the team of professionals in leadership annual giving and philanthropy operations.

Formal Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in collaborative engagement within regions or global headquarters preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ACS programs, strategies, and infrastructure is a plus.
  • Project management skills from start to finish.
  • Non-profit or healthcare industry experience preferred.
