We have been engaged by a national middle market Investment Banking firm for several Industrials focused Investment Banking MD level roles.
They are a specialized firm in the Industrials space with a focus on several sub sectors including but not limited to, Energy Transition, Utilities, Industrial Services and Chemicals. This firm is willing to add other sub sectors that are not currently being covered. The MD that comes in will either expand their existing footprint in the given sub sector or have a fresh market to build from the ground up. An experienced MD with a track record of business is highly desirable. Ideally someone who is originating, sourcing and closing deals.
Their core offering includes Buy-Side/Sell-Side M&A and Corporate Advisory. While the firm is based in the South, they also have offices in the Midwest. The MD can sit in any location as this is a fully remote role.

Title: Industrials Investment Banking – Managing Director
Salary: $200,000 – $225,000 +Bonus
Location: Chicago, IL (Remote)
Responsibilities:
- Source deals and bring on deals in the Industrials space
- Origination activities, pitches, decks and build, foster and expand existing long term industry relationships with Industrials clients in the mid markets
- Work hand in hand with leadership and juniors alike to complete transactions
- Advise on Buy/Sell side M&A activities (platform is mainly sell-side M&A, 95% of deals)
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Bankers (VPs, Associates & Analysts)
- Analyze market data and understand current market trends,
- Grow a book of business, existing clients and new clients alike
- Become a thought leader in the sub vertical of your choosing
- Close 3-4 deals a year
- Enthusiastic about the Industry sub vertical, being a market specialist in any sub sector will help you stand out as a candidate especially in Industrial Services, Environmental Services and Built Environment
- Deep sell side M&A experience is a must with a track record of sourcing, winning, executing and closing deals
Requirements:
- BA/BS with a major in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field
- Anywhere between 10 yrs – 15 yrs of relevant experience, only Banking or combination of Investment Banking and Corporate Advisory
- M&A Exp is a must with an emphasis on sell side M&A
- Licenses preferred are Series 7, 79 & 63
- Open to travel as needed by clients, although the role is remote and the execution bankers
- Must have a track record of leading small teams (4-6 junior Bankers)
- Track record of originating fees of ~$2mm-3mn per year, this can be fees of ~$750k to $2mn in fees per deal
- Ideally targeting closing at least two deals per year
- Minimum of 10 yrs of Investment Banking experience is ideal
