THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial leader to spearhead the launch and growth of our Commerce and Retail Media division. As the Head of Commerce and Retail Media, you will fully own a team of experts with buy-side and sell-side retail media expertise. This subject matter expert will drive the strategy, optimization, and reporting across key platforms such as Amazon, Criteo, Walmart, Target, Instacart, Kroger, social commerce platforms, and emerging retail media networks.

YOUR OBJECTIVES

The Managing Director is dedicated to challenging the status quo, pushing client strategies forward, and driving performance and satisfaction through innovative solutions . This role will be pivotal in shaping how Crossmedia builds, executes, and optimizes commerce and retail media strategies. You will lead the team in delivering insights, reports, forecasts, and strategic guidance to maximize value for our clients and the overall practice. While this is a leadership role, it will require a hands-on approach, particularly during the initial department development stages.

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Commerce and Retail Media division.
  • Manage and Mentor the Team: Manage, train, and mentor the wider retail media team you lead to meet and exceed campaign goals.
  • Campaign budget management, bid management, reporting, strategic development, targeting, and campaign optimization using performance history and expertise.
  • Execution: Aid in the planning and implementing of retail media campaigns, including campaign setup and builds.
  • Automation & AI Integration: Implement automation and AI-enabled strategies to relieve teams of manual work where possible.
  • Cross-Channel Integration: Integrate with broader media initiatives and strategies for both online and offline media executions to achieve client goals.
  • Data-Driven Reporting: Work with our reporting and analytics teams to develop and utilize media reporting templates for ongoing performance reports and advanced modeling to showcase retail media value.
  • Best Practices: Ensure all campaigns are run according to best practices, collaborating with teams to update best practices as the channel evolves and media capabilities progress.
  • Client & Internal Collaboration: Help develop and deliver materials to key client partners and internal agency partners.
  • Client Partnerships: Develop and lead strong partnerships with our clients, internal team leaders, and retail vendor partners.
  • Skill Development: Collaborate with client service teams to build new skills, keep teams informed on the latest trends, and maintain certifications.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 5 + years of performance marketing experience specializing in buy- and sell-side retail media.
  • Strong understanding and mastery of the latest technology and best practices to build a new media practice.
  • Proven experience managing team members and developing the next wave of talent.
  • Experience building client relationships in newer media channels where clients may have high enthusiasm but limited knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience with SaaS platforms (e.g., Pacvue , Skai, CommerceIQ , Podean ) and bid management platforms.
  • Experience in direct retail media platform activation.
  • CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) experience required.
  • Deep knowledge of commerce media platforms (e.g., Amazon, Walmart Connect, Instacart) and expertise in retail and e-commerce media strategies.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a solid ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  • Data-driven, with experience in using analytics to optimize campaign performance.
  • Strong financial acumen and P&L management experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Salary range $225k - $250k. Commensurate with experience. Compensation is determined on the skills, qualifications and tenure of the applicant.
