Job description

Salary Range: $200,000.00 To $225,000.00 Annually

Harvest Inn is an idyllic resort designed to celebrate the vineyard way of life, with 81 luxurious accommodations nestled into four uniquely crafted neighborhoods, two secluded swimming pools, and a plush spa with indoor and outdoor facilities. Surrounded by lush landscaping of expansive clipped lawns, Harvest Inn has serene shaded groves, partially forested by towering redwoods. Harvest Inn is home to gardens of agricultural botanicals that produce many of the ingredients on the menus of our on-property restaurant, Harvest Table.

We are seeking a Managing Director to lead this exceptional team of hospitality professionals.

The Managing Director for this spectacular property is responsible for the overall operating performance, guest satisfaction, and financial results of the hotel, while protecting the interests of Ownership and preserving the long-term viability of the physical plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Uphold the Woodside Spirit and Values in all dealings with guest, clients, associates, and owners.
  • Direct and monitor all daily operations of the property.
  • Ensure profitability through development and maintenance of effective and productive hotel strategic planning and policy, including operational budgets, forecasts and marketing plans.
  • Regularly monitor the hotels performance through financial reports and guest comment cards.
  • Monitor property capital investment/improvement projects.
  • Work within approved budgets; develop and implement cost saving measures.
  • Allocate funds, authorizes expenditures, and assists in planning budgets for departments.
  • Hire, train and directly supervise, maintain and support individual performance and group dynamics of all department heads.
  • Interact in a courteous and professional manner with all internal and external guests.
  • Establish and maintain a consistently high level of service and reputation for excellence in all facilities.
  • Employ effective strategies that will maintain the service standards of the property.
  • Research and respond accordingly to guest complaints and initiate corrective action when necessary.
  • Perform administrative duties including reviewing and writing reports, dictating memorandums and orally communicate with guests, managers, the corporate office, local associations, etc.
  • Establish and/or assist in developing the standards for personnel administration and performance, service to customers, room rates, advertising, publicity, food and beverage operations, etc.
  • Develop and/or oversee the development of programs to increase associate engagement, satisfaction and collaboration.
  • Include staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; Solicit and apply customer feedback (internal and external).
  • Conduct management and team member meetings as needed to communicate pertinent information to staff and ensure a smooth operation.
  • Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a positive public relations image with business and local communities, participate in community affairs.
  • Meet with potential and current clients and promote the hotel.
  • Physically tour and visually inspect the hotel property regularly, to include guest rooms, public access areas and grounds for cleanliness and the overall appearance of the hotel.
  • Monitor cost control, property condition, cleanliness and quality of product and services throughout the hotel.
  • Inspect guests' rooms, public access areas, and outside grounds for cleanliness and appearance.
  • Communicate changes and progress.
  • Complete projects on time and budget.
  • Develops innovative approaches and ideas.
  • Act as “Manager on duty” as required.
  • Ensure compliance to state/federal labor laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for the development and successful execution of emergency plans for property, guest and associate safety.
  • Travel to attend Woodside Hotels & Resorts meetings and sales trips.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Regular attendance... essential to the successful performance of this position.

Due to the cyclical nature... including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervise the Hotel's management staff. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Able to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of challenges in order to perform and direct many varied and complex tasks.
  • Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow-up.
  • A clear thinker, able to remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.
  • Proven ability to relate to and communicate with owners.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing people.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of presenting and discussing technical information to establish rapport and/or influence and gain understanding of others.
  • Able to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Business degree or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

ServSafe and CPR/First Aid Certification desired. Valid California Driver License.

PAY SCALE

The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $225,000. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, and education.
