Job summary

General Atlantic is seeking a senior valuation leader to drive the global valuation function across a diverse portfolio. You will build and review complex financial models, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and guide governance across asset classes.

You will partner with auditors, report to senior leadership, and help shape exit strategies with MOIC/IRR analyses while improving valuation processes through technology and process improvements. Hybrid NYC with some telecommuting.

Qualifications

  • Developing fair value estimates and quarterly valuations for a portfolio of debt and equity investments.
  • Constructing financial models using DCF, Comparable Company analysis, and Comparable Transactions; maintaining valuation database.
  • Performing valuation analysis in accordance with FASB ASC 820 (Level 3 assets).
  • Perform Calibration analysis per AICPA Valuation Guide.
  • Preparing multi-scenario exit plans to evaluate MOIC/IRR and trends to resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the valuation strategy and process across a global portfolio of 300+ companies with responsibility for leading and managing the global valuation function, including oversight of internal teams and external valuation providers.
  • Compile, review and analyze information/financial data and perform comprehensive valuation modeling providing senior-level review and approval of valuation outputs across the global portfolio.
  • Evaluate and analyze portfolio valuation and performance results, including by forecasting business financials and preparing key financial performance metrics, comprehensive analytics reports, and ad-hoc planning deliverables, and present insights to senior leadership, and valuation and portfolio committees.
  • Set independent pricing and fair value adjustment policies and align such policies across global investment strategies and asset classes, while enhancing firm-wide valuation governance frameworks to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Highlight concentrations in risk or uncertainties in parameter inputs and assess implications from a risk/return perspective while providing independent oversight on valuation assumptions and conclusions.
  • Anticipate issues within the existing portfolio and future investments and advise senior stakeholders on valuation implications for portfolio monitoring and exit planning.
  • Drive efficiencies by assessing potential technology solutions and process redesign where appropriate to improve global valuations process.
  • Interface with external stakeholders, including auditors and third-party valuation firms, to support valuation reviews, audits, and reporting processes.
Qualifications
  • Required: Masters degree in Business Administration (with Finance or Accounting concentration) or Finance plus 3 years of experience in the position offered or in the position of Vice President or Senior Vice President at a global private equity/alternative investment firm OR Bachelors degree in Business Administration (with Finance or Accounting concentration) or Finance, plus five years of progressive post-Bachelor experience in the position offered or in the position of Vice President or Senior Vice President at a global private equity/alternative investment firm.
  • All required experience must have included:
    • Developing fair value estimates and performing quarterly valuations for a portfolio of debt and equity investments;
    • Constructing financial models using Discounted Cash Flows, Comparable Company analysis, and Comparable Transactions method; marking and maintaining a valuation database;
    • Performing valuation analysis in accordance with FASB Accounting Standard Codification 820, including Level 3 assets;
    • Performing Calibration analysis in accordance with the AICPA Accounting and Valuation Guide;
    • Preparing multiple-scenario exit plans to evaluate profitability and investment MOIC/IRR for portfolio companies; and using sensitivity analysis, profitability and growth analysis, and trend analysis to identify and resolve potential valuation discrepancies.

This role entails hybrid work, with time split between working in our New York City office and flexibility to telecommute from another U.S. location. Salary: $425,000-$500,000/year.
